The Advantages of Virtual NetMeetings
Virtual meetings are a valuable resource in today's business environment, and a convenient option for Personal Assistants and other meeting organisers. A NetMeeting, also know as an online meeting or web meeting is a great way to save money on flights and travel, and is more versatile than conventional videoconferencing.
Virtual meetings are conducted online using special websites. The only real pre-requisite is that all meeting participants have the same web meeting software installed on their computer. A web browser and an access password are also required. Microsoft Net Meeting is a free Microsoft tool that is used to conduct a web meeting. It is gerallly found on your computer's Programs menu. The process of setting up a meeting is fairly straightforward. First, you use the call menu to call the other party(ies). Then enter their computer name. If the other party has logged on to Microsoft Net Meeting, they can accept the call, in which case, you can begin the virtual meeting. During the web meeting you can give other meeting participants control of your computer, or just show them your computer screen; both processes can easily be cancelled. The meeting participants can also make changes to shared documents while the web meeting is in progress. With NetMeetings you can have a point to point meeting, or a scheduled one to many meeting, using NetMeeting's audio and video facilities. You can also conduct text chat and live talk, and share live applications and documents. Users with version 3.01 can take advantage of the whiteboard facility for meetings with multiple users. Microsoft Net Meeting can also accommodate videoconferencing and remotely control a PC. One of the best features of NetMeeting is the facility to attend and host data conferences and to make presentations. NetMeeting can also be accessed from a web page. Microsoft Remote Desktop Sharing also allows you to access your computer remotely. This is a separate process to the NetMeeting facility. You can connect to your office computer from home in order to finish a document, and then send the document to print on the office printer. NetMeeting Desktop Sharing also allows you to transfer files to another computer.
