Website Building Issues
Building a website can be a bewildering experience, especially if you are a complete novice. The only thing you can be certain of is that it's a lot harder than you think. But it is satisfying, provided you have the right tools. Craftsmen are only as good as their tools, so make sure the resources you have at your disposal are fit for the job.
If your knowledge of e-commerce and the internet is limited, you will be at a distinct disadvantage, but you can be sure that the competition has done their homework. I have included below a number of issues that you should take into consideration before your start building your website. I have also included a summary review of the Site Build It e-commerce package, which I totally recommend.
Website Hosting
Reliable website hosting is essential for business continuity, so choose wisely when selecting a website host.
Bluehost Web Hosting - $6.95/mo!
is competitively priced. This cPanel website hosting service provides 24/7 support. Alternatively, the Dedicated Servers at GoDaddy.com
provide a competitive website hosting option.
You could also opt for a free mini site with free hosting. But expect very little in the way of web tools, or support when your website goes down. The space available to your site will be limited and web pages may load slowly. It's best to avoid free hosting if you want reliability and a professional look and feel.
Website Design
There are many options available to you when it comes to actually building a website. Fantastico’s cPanel is an easy to use programme that allows you to quickly set up a blog site using Wordpress.
Wordpress blogging technology
is free, easy to use, and is compatible with Bluehost web hosting & cPanel technology. A blog is a type of website that allows you add content in chronological order.
If money is not an issue you could hire a website designer to achieve that polished, professional look. However, this may be time consuming and expensive. In addition to this, having someone else in charge of webmaster duties could become an inconvenience, particularly if they are unavailable when you need to update the site urgently.
If you are familiar with html language and graphics packages like FrontPage, you could do it yourself. Most website building packages are flexible enough to allow you to upload your own html pages.
Know Your Keywords
A keyword finding tool is essential if you want to maximise search engine manipulation and gain the best possible position in search engine search results. If your site building option does not include word search tools, you should consider signing up with WordTracker.com
the industry leaders in word search tools. A keyword list will also come in handy when choosing the most profitable words to incorporate into the text on your site to maximise advertising revenue.
A good word search tool will find the keywords most frequently used by internet surfers when searching for your type of services. This important step is necessary to attract traffic to your website, so don't scrimp on word search tools.

Domain Name
When choosing a website domain name, be sure to check the name with a domain name registrar like
“Who-is”
to make sure it is not in use. You can purchase your domain name from one of many online companies like GoDaddy.com. Free Domain, Unlimited Disk Space, Unlimited Data Transfer and 25% off with Yahoo! Web Hosting

Website vs Blog: Pros and Cons
A website is an internet application that houses a combination of texts, images and flash messages or animation. A web log ("a blog") is part of a website that is also known as an online journal.
1. Navigation
A website's navigation is often likened to a book. Its main index is the home page, where the key topics are listed. Whereas, a blog uses navigation that links to the previous or next entry, which is shown either at the start or end of each blog post.
2. Update-ability
A website has static content. But it could link to a news page to offer fresh info regularly. Blogs, on the other hand, are updated constantly, with items posted in chronological order. This feature of blogging is attributed to the content management system.
With a website, HTML tweaking with a web editing application is required before you can update it. But with blogs, platforms that focus on content get rid of the challenge of working with HTML codes, so updating and publishing is easier.
3. Usability
When it comes to usability, the general public won't find much difference between a website and a blog. A blog may not differ that much from a website, but a blog is easier to alter to make it more helpful to visitors.
4. "Author"/"reader" interaction
Blogs have a commentary feature where readers can comment on any post. The author of the blog can interact easily by responding to the comment. With this feature, a blog offers more interactivity than a website. Websites have a "Contact Us" page where you can send electronic mail to the webmaster or relevant department but that is about it for interactivity.
To conclude, if you are offering information that does not require regular updating, a website is ideal. If you would like to interact quickly and easily and update your site regularly without HTML issues, a blog is your best option.
It is worth pointing out that a website and a blog can go hand in hand.
